Case Study: Baltimore Public Schools

Brightly supports us in supporting our seventy thousand plus students across the district. So We are the first line. If those buildings don't open, the students can't come in and learn. And so our goal is to make sure that they have a safe place to come into that is clean, that is maintained well, is free of distractions concerning the physical building. We maintain about one hundred and fifty school buildings. We have approximately seventeen million square feet, brightly helped us to more quickly identify where the issues are In twenty eighteen, we had a situation where there was a cold snap, and we had several of our buildings go down at one time. Because of our work order system, we were eventually able to figure out, wait a minute, which are the buildings that have gone down, which the buildings, have we had the most issues with? And we ended up getting some resources to actually begin to deal with our mechanical issues in our buildings. And it was about fifteen million dollars that went towards that. It allowed us to, in approve our building automation system. It helped us to identify what are our key buildings that we would not have been able to do without brightly We have assets, air handlers, roofs, all of these things have things that go wrong in a building on a day to day based us and have to be resolved. But then you also have to have the mentality that these are assets that have to be maintained or else they're going to fail. The importance of maintaining these assets isn't just resolving the problems as they're identified, but it's also having the foresight to say, we need to preventatively maintain these buildings to ensure that they keep running and that our children are in a safe school.
