Chatty Café expands into commercial venues

2 minutes

Chatty Café Australia continues to go from strength to strength, now with 219 hospitality and social venues, both community and commercial, having joined the Scheme to help prevent and reduce loneliness and social isolation in communities across the country. To learn more about Chatty Café and our partnership, read this introductory blog.

Venues include neighbourhood houses, community centres, libraries, cafes, restaurants, pubs, wine bars, aged care residences, hospital cafeterias, schools, churches, art galleries, and farms. Venues are in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Queensland, and Western Australia, with venues in New South Wales expected to join soon and Mosman Council expressing interest in setting up a Chatty Café presence in that region. We are yet to branch out into the Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory, so if you have a venue in mind, please reach out to us so we can get in touch with them!

We are also introducing a second option for commercial venues to become involved. These establishments are keen to be recognised as "Chatty Venues," committed to fostering connections between staff and customers everyday throughout their operating hours. By embracing the "Sip, Chat, Share, Care" ethos, they receive a distinctive window sticker when they sign up. Unlike traditional Chatty Café venues, they do not specify a particular table or time, nor do they rely on Chatty volunteers. These venues are committed to the care and well-being of their customers and operate under the banner of "Profit with Purpose," actively encouraging communities to stay connected.

“We are grateful for Brightly’s continued support of our Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) approved health promotion and community welfare deductible gift recipient (DGR) Tier 1 charity,” said Glenys Reid, Managing Director, Chatty Café.
